Summary:
The Resident Support/Social Worker will be responsible for assisting Housing Support Services program at HSS Highbridge with case management services for HCDC residents. This position will report to the Program Director for Community Engagement. This position will work closely with CCCS staff, residents, building management, and other stakeholders to foster a safe and healthy living environment for residents, help strengthen a sense of community engagement, and ensure that the missions of Catholic Charities and Highbridge Community Development Corporation are upheld in all aspects of service delivery. This position will play a key role in addressing a variety of social issues and help HCDC residents navigate crises.
Responsibilities:     

  • Provide residents of Highbridge HCDC with case management services, information and referrals and resources that will help alleviate housing and/or family crisis
  • Coordinate with building management on severe maintenance issues and rental arrears.  
  • Conduct Outreach, Needs Assessments, and related surveying.  
  • Refer residents to special on-site and community-based programs.  
  • Inform the CC programming team on shaping programs based on resident need.  
  • Maintain current and accurate documentation of services provided to clients.  
  • Conduct educational and/or supportive groups.  
  • Complete statistical reports.  
  • Supervise volunteers and interns as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned:  
Education and/or experience:  
  • BSW/MSW preferred or a Bachelor’s plus 3 years of relevant experience.  
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.  
  • Must have excellent relationship building, time management, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills. 
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently with minimal supervision.  
  • Experience with social service delivery systems/services targeted at underserved groups, including minority and immigrant communities.  
  • Knowledge of affordable housing policies, compliance, and tenants rights and responsibilities. 
  • Knowledge of NORC models.  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively including excellent verbal and written skills.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Office and Excel. 
Pay:  $65,000 - 70,000 per year
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:  

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary and could include evening hours as needed. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs.  

 
Working conditions and physical demands: 
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Assess and work in varied home environmental conditions.  Interact with residents who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions. COVID-19 pandemic presents numerous risks to employees and clients. This position is expected to interact (practicing social distancing) with potentially asymptomatic, possibly symptomatic clients with proper PPE (personal protective equipment). Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer approximately 40% of the time.
