Summary
Catholic Charities Community Services provides assistance to day laborers from diverse backgrounds through case management, employment-based, and educational services. The Case Manager will screen prospective applicants/cases, complete the enrollment process, provide orientation, conduct comprehensive casework for the designated service period according to the specific contract guidelines.This position is focused on assisting the needs of the Day Laborers served by the center at 325 Yonkers Ave, and the local parish. The case manager will provide intakes and comprehensive case management to individuals and families seeking a wide range of social services, access to food and essential household items, and in need of supportive services to improve their well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Direct Client Services:
Provide effective engagement, assessment, service planning and follow-up using a strengths-based and trauma informed approach.
Provide crisis intervention in emergencies around shelter, food, clothing, and other basic needs through the provision of financial assistance, food pantry, goods, advocacy, access to benefits and resources.
Conduct thorough assessments beyond the presenting need and develop a service plan that addresses immediate needs and longer-term goals.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex social service system and partner with clients to navigate these networks, including by encouraging self-advocacy.
Provide benefits assistance.
Assist with wage theft claims, including navigation of small claims court and submission and follow up of claims with Department of Labor or other labor agencies, as appropriate.
Administrative:
Enter information into a Data Management System (ECM) in a timely and thorough manner.
Complete requests for financial assistance and gather supportive documentation in a timely, efficient, and thorough manner.
Attend and participate in weekly supervision, monthly Department meetings, team meetings, community meetings, trainings, and other agency-related activities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday Friday, exact hours to be determined. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, client needs, or program related activities.
Working conditions and physical demands required:
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Travel for field visits, outreach, staff meetings and/or escorting clients at least 20% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.
Traverse neighborhoods that may require a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings.
Work with clients who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions.
Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 70% of the time.
Rate of pay for this position is between $30.22 to $35.71 an hour.
Qualifications
Education and/or experience required:
Bachelors degree is preferred with two years of experience in the social services field or enrolled in a Social Work program.
Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:
Bilingual Spanish/English required.
Excellent interpersonal skills: the ability to work well independently.
Knowledge of social service delivery systems and local resources.
Excellent organizational, time-management and communication skills.
WIFI access and ability to successfully navigate remote technology, if needed.
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Data Management systems built on a Salesforce platform.
