Catholic Homes New York (Catholic Homes), integrating the Association of New York Catholic Homes, Inc. (ANYCH) and the New York Institute for Human Development (IHD), stands as a fundamental entity in delivering affordable housing under the Archdiocese's umbrella.   

Position Description:

The Senior Director of Finance is a strategic and vital role within the Catholic Homes. Catholic Homes oversees more than 20 HDFCs, managing over 2,700 affordable housing units with a projected growth to surpass 3,300 units by the end of this year. As Catholic Homes navigates substantial growth and diversification, our real estate ventures extend beyond New York City, embracing LIHTC and nonĀ­ LIHTC projects. This expansion reflects our unwavering commitment to the communities and individuals we serve, aligning with our core values of resident investment and collaboration with Catholic agencies focused on providing support and hope.   
The successful candidate will possess proven expertise in financial analysis and regulatory compliance related to housing entities. This role demands a hands-on approach to managing complex financial tasks and a keen ability to work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders. This position collaborates with affiliated Boards, property management agents, supportive housing providers, legal counsel, and Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) Finance team to ensure compliance and effective financial management.   

Job duties:

  • Prepare management and GAAP financial statement including footnotes.
  • Develop annual budgets and forecasts, aligning with financial projections.
  • Oversee construction packages, review for accuracy, and approve financial documents.
  • Maintain financial compliance and recommend reporting improvements.
  • Coordinate asset management reports and maintain asset schedules.
  • Monitor expenditures across all project phases.
  • Primary contact for audits, ensuring compliance with LIHTC and GAAP.
  • Address audit inquiries and manage cash flow analyses.
  • Assess and enhance internal financial controls.
  • Manage cash receipts and bank transfers, ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Monitor and report on capital accounts and housing operations.
  • Other job related duties and projects as assigned.
 Pay: $175,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, focusing on affordable housing finance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and LIHTC regulations.
  • CPA license or MBA is considered a plus.
  • Auditing experience preferred.

Work Environment:

This full-time position offers a hybrid work model, with remote work options two days a week. The standard work schedule is 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to meet project deadlines. Position will require regular travel within Manhattan to CCCS Headquarters to align with CCCS CFO and fiscal team.
