Summary

The job developer will carry out employment support services and make job placements for clients in accordance with requirements set by the Department of State, the Office of Refugee Resettlement, and the New York State Bureau Refugee 
Services. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned.

• Establish and build working relationships with area employers across New York City and Westchester.
• Locate appropriate employment opportunities for clients through telephone contact, on-site visits, digital and direct correspondence with potential employers.
• Attend job fairs and respond to job advertisements posted by businesses.
• Negotiate and advocate with the workforce field, business community and employers on behalf of clients and serve as a support for employment on issues such as salary, wages, working conditions, etc.
• Conduct required direct job placements in coordination with client and employer.
• Verify and document hourly wage and placement information in accordance with program guidelines.

• In accordance with federal and state program guidelines, conduct post job placement follow-up with clients and employers at prescribed intervals.
• Serve as a resource for clients and employers to troubleshoot post-placement issues.
• Monitor post-placement retention and document contacts.
• Assess clients’ ongoing employment needs, including opportunities for job upgrades, vocational training and career development opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance.
• Monitor and record using internal online tools and databases the number and type of placements to ensure program-specific goals are on track.
• Ensure a wide range of jobs are available – especially positions for English Language Learners and those with minimal or no U.S. work experience.
• Develop a comprehensive employment plan for each employable adult using standard forms and procedures.• Identify potential barriers to early employment and develop an appropriate action plan in coordination with case management and training staff.
• Coordinate with case management and education and training staff on service delivery to address identified barriers.
• Assess clients’ ongoing employment barriers and plan for and make appropriate interventions throughout the service period.
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and facilitating job readiness classes for refugees.
• Assist clients directly with all aspects of job preparation, including completing job applications, preparing résumés for all employable adults, conducting mock job interviews, appearance counseling, and navigating the public transportation system.
• Counsel clients on US workforce expectations, including understanding payroll procedures, tax  withholding, payroll deductions and benefits packages.
• Accompany clients to job interviews as needed, and if appropriate.
• Participate in regular staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain case file and electronic documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.

Pay: $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 a year based on 35 hour work week. 

Qualifications
• BA in business, commerce, community relations or other relevant field; or 3+ years of related experience in the field.
• Relevant work experience in job development with immigrant or refugee populations.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and goals.
• Fluency in English and a second language commonly spoken by client population (Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Haitian-Creole or French strongly preferred.)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday - Friday. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for occasional special events.
Working conditions and physical demands required: 
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
Ability to travel regularly between the two office locations and surrounding areas for outreach using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 70% of the time.
• ***COVID-19 Adjustment: Position will be on-boarded virtually. Potential to orient to the physical office spaces in person depending on CDC and agency requirements at the time of on-boarding. Updates to protocol are implemented on a regular basis
