Summary:The Street Outreach Workerwill work with all Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) sites in Washington Heights, including at our Beacon, Community School, SYEP/Career Ready, and Cultural Center programs, and other community stakeholders to support our violence reduction agenda in community. This individual willprovidesupporttoparticipantswhoareimpactedbyviolence,includingbutnotlimitedtogunviolence, or bullying in our community. This role is critical in helping to advance the goals, priority, and culture of the program and theAgencywithintheAlianzaDivisionandthecommunityandininteractionswithpartners,fundersandthegeneralpublic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Represent program and agency at partnership meetings and other activities with partners, funders, and the public on matters related to anti-violenceinitiatives.
Participate in the Community Violence reduction committee being spearheaded by local electedofficials and the New York District Attorney.
Plan and use community resources to promote violence reduction in ourneighborhood.
Visit other Violence reduction programs in other neighborhoods and maintain a neighborhood presence with youth and community residents to address concerns of neighborhoodviolence.
Conduct outreach calls to participants’ guardians to keep participants involved in theprogram.
Plan and implement individual and/or group socio-emotional support activities forcommunity members.
Facilitate a series of anti-violence workshops in our partner schools.
Consistently meet with local Precinct’s to build youth and communityrelations.
Create a community map of where the most incident of violence happens in ourcommunity.
Work with Division Director, CCCS Alianza Program Directors, and community partners in planning for activities and formulating strategies to advance programmatic and agency goals andpriorities.
Conduct initial program assessment to assess communityneeds.
Facilitate daily program activities; maintain attendance logs for all ouractivities.
Maintain the monthly calendar of outreach, networking, and workshops available toparticipants.
Work with Division Director and key CCCS Alianza staff to develop anti-violence curriculum and lesson plans.
Participate in Credible Messenger trainings.
Attend inter-office meetings as well as outside agencies meetings asappropriate.
Participate in staff meetings, case conferences and other meetings asassigned.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The ability to work flexible hours is a must.

When conducting home visits or community events, individuals will use public transportation or traversecity streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weatherconditions.
Remain in a stationary position while monitoring activities, providing instruction, or when at aworkstation.
Move for long periods, providinginstruction.
Use a computer at least 40% of thetime.
Ability and patience to work with young people, particularly in groupsettings and engaging street culture.
Pay: 27.47 an hour
Qualifications:
Education and/or experience required:
Working towards AA orBA
Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with youth and working in an in-schoolsetting.
A strong commitment to anti-violenceissues
Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:
Strong interpersonal and communicationskills.
Demonstrated ability to motivateparticipants.
Ability to work well in a teamenvironment.
Excellent network-building and outreachskills.
Ability to build relationships with anti-violence organizations and groups.
Ability to effectively interact and work with individuals with diversebackgrounds.
Must be organized and detail oriented and have the ability to work effectively under pressure in both team setting andindividually.
Excellent computer skills and experience (Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
