Description

Summary: The SNL Coach plays a vital role in the development and coaching of our SNL Sports and Recreation Program, contributing to the growth and success of our organization.  
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  
  • Coach activities related to sports & recreation.  
  • Coach annual tournament, participating in local & citywide tournaments & Olympics.  
  • Organize various sports clinics.  
  • Recruit youth for specialized teams.  
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in planning and organizing workshops for gym participants.  
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in supervising all of the activities that are held in the gymnasium.  
  • Monitor and keep an inventory of all recreational and sports supplies, including Game Room supplies.  
  • Attend staff meetings when scheduled.  
  • Submit weekly reports on a timely basis.  
  • Inform the Program Director of changes or any irregularities.  
  
  
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 
Saturdays, 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm  
 
Working conditions and physical demands required: 
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
  
  1. Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings. 
  2. Remain in a stationary position, either working at a computer or monitoring activities. 
  3. Move for long periods, providing instruction. 
  4. Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, Traverse City streets, ascending/descending stairs, and being exposed to outside weather conditions while escorting youth. 
  5. Exposed to outside weather conditions during the summer months. 
  
  Pay: $30.00 hourly
Qualifications 
Education and/or experience required: 
  1. High School Diploma or GED, working towards AA or BA degree. 
  2. Strong knowledge of sports and recreation, with a minimum of one year of experience in organizing tournaments and working with youth.
