Summary

The Training Specialist will facilitate a process for engaging Day Laborers in actively participating on OSHA, SST, Disaster Management and other related Trainings, enhancing their leadership skills by providing the appropriate tools to be part of the workforce, in a qualified and safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and other duties may be assigned:

1. Assist the Trainings Coordinator in the creation and coordination training programs in leadership and OSHA, SST, Disaster Management and other related topics for the Day Laborers and low-wage workers. Assist with scheduling and logistics arrangements for training programs, particularly for 
monthly OSHA trainings in the Yonkers Day Laborer Center.
2. Prepare monthly metric reports detailing the progress organizing the workers and their participation in the different offered Trainings. Assist with completion of funding contract deliverables.
3. Follow up on Day Laborers accomplishments related with the completion of Trainings, including Cards, Certificates, etc.
4. Assist with case management and workforce development support to participants in Workplace Safety trainings. 
5. Convene and facilitate meetings with day laborer leaders. Make presentations, provide information, and solicit input from all stakeholders of the community, including the workers, employers, home owners, businesses, elected officials, organized labor, education, training, employment, and human service providers, legal and immigrant aid providers, food and clothing donors, volunteers, etc.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. Modified or additional hours will be required to meet client needs or attend meetings, etc.
Working Conditions and physical demands required: The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Remain in a stationary position when presenting or at a workstation using a computer approximately 40% of the time.
• Frequently sit for long periods attending Trainings.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in related field, or equivalent professional training and experience
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Knowledge and familiarity with immigrant and Day Laborer populations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel throughout NYS and other Archdiocese of NY sites.

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. The hourly pay range is $27.47 to $30.22 based on a 35-hour work week ($50,000.00 to $55,000.00 per year).
