Summary:  
The Refugee Resettlement Department at Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) provides assistance to newly arrived families from diverse backgrounds who are resettling in New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley. The Mental Health and Outreach Trainer will develop, implement, and organize trauma-informed training for external providers and partners to serve newly arrived families. The Trainer will also develop and implement curricula for health and wellness workshops for CCCS clients. The Trainer will be responsible for conducting outreach to clients before and after workshops, collecting client feedback, and reporting activities in internal and external reporting databases.  
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
External Training and Partnerships:
•    Create and deliver trainings for mental health providers and community-based organizations on trauma-informed service provision for refugee populations. 
•    Conduct outreach and build relationships with mental health providers and community-based organizations for ongoing connection, training, and collaboration.
•    Maintain updated tracking of outreach efforts.
•    Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues at other refugee-serving organizations in CCCS’ service area for collaboration, consultation, and resource sharing for mental health, social services, domestic violence, healthcare, and more.
•    Contribute to organizing community events, including mental and community health activities, resource fairs, and volunteer events.
 
Internal Workshops and Mental Health Support: 
•    Partner with the Refugee Health Promotion team to provide workshops and wellness groups focused on mental health, personal growth, healthy relationships, and healthcare systems, among other topics. Adjust and create new educational offerings based on need.
•    Collaborate with staff and volunteers to conduct needs assessments for client access to mental healthcare and supportive community-based organizations. 
•    Meet with clients one-on-one as needed for follow up on workshop and group material.
•    Distribute educational and culturally appropriate resources on trauma, community-based support, and best practices in mental health trends in forced migration with the Refugee Resettlement team.
•    Coordinate crisis intervention education, resources, and services for CCCS staff to better respond to client needs, including mental health crises, domestic/intimate partner violence, and more.
•    Review safety and crisis intervention protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency; draft new policies and protocols to address gaps in coordination with department and agency leadership.
•    Develop and implement trauma-informed health and mental health best practice training for CCCS staff, in collaboration with supervisors and directors.
•    Build working relationships and maintain ongoing communication with the Refugee Health Promotion team and case managers to encourage client participation in workshops and wellness groups. 
•    Create accessible and effective systems for gathering client feedback and promoting engagement in workshops and wellness groups. 
 
Administrative Responsibilities:
•    Maintain and update program rosters and electronic case note systems in respective online database system including ECM/Salesforce, SharePoint, and BIN. Keep updated physical case files.
•    Write detailed case notes in a timely manner and maintain copies of documents in case files.
•    Create and distribute the monthly program calendar of RHP activities.
•    Contribute to monitoring preparation and data collection for reporting purposes.
•    Attend internal and external meetings, trainings, outreach opportunities, and conferences as necessary.
 
Qualifications

•    A bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or a related field of study is required. Masters in social work degree preferred. 
•    At least 3 years of experience working in a human services field, preferably with immigrants or refugees.
•    Highly motivated self-starter with strong problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.  
•    Excellent organizational skills, communication (oral & written), and interpersonal skills. 
•    Ability to manage deadlines and high-volume communication in a fast-paced environment.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
•    Proficiency in presentation development and facilitation using various tools including Canva, Prezi, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Ceros. 
•    Ability to work and communicate effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment. 
•    Fluency in English and a second language commonly spoken by client population (Spanish, French, Haitian-Creole, etc.) preferred.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position that requires a willingness to travel as needed to sites in Westchester and NYC.  Days and hours of work are generally 9:00am-5:00pm Monday - Friday.  Some weekend and evening hours, if needed. 
Working conditions and physical demands required:  
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  
•    Ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.  
•    Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 60% of the time, with 40% of time spent in the field.
•    ***COVID-19 Adjustment: Position will have a hybrid work schedule. Updates to protocol are implemented on a regular basis. 

 This is an non-exempt, hourly position. The salary pay range is $55,000.00 to $58,000.00 or $30.22 to $32.97 an hour based on a 35-hour work week.
