Summary: The Program Coordinator will join Catholic Charities Community  Services  (CCCS)  as  part of  our Hudson Valley programming. The Program Coordinator will coordinate, manage, and oversee the day-today operations and scheduling of the ONA Opportunity Center in Rockland County and will serve as the main point of contact for local community engagement and outreach, along with the Lower Hudson Valley Program Manager.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Coordinate the promotion of services offered by the Opportunity Center throughout the local area, including by developing and disseminating flyers, brochures, posters, and other materials related to programs and events offered by the center.
  • Manage relationships with partners, sub-contractors and volunteers involved in providing program activities, and be a main point of contact between the Opportunity Center and stakeholders, clients, and the community.
  • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers for citizenship classes, administrative support and other ONA Center programs and activities.
  • Coordinate Know Your Rights presentations and other community workshops for immigrants.
  • Provide on-going support and coordination of Opportunity Center activities to ensure appropriate engagement of clients.
  • Track and report attendance, assessments, and schedule appropriate space for hosting workshops, training sessions, citizenship classes and other project activities.
  • As needed and under the supervision of an attorney, participate in regular screenings for those at the ONA Rockland Opportunity Center.
  • As needed and under the supervision of an attorney, assist clients to obtain the documents necessary to apply for relief, fill out appropriate forms, and follow up with clients via phone, mail, and email.
  • Create and maintain physical and electronic files, including managing correspondence with clients and documenting correspondence with immigration and other agencies.
  • Manage data entry in internal (LLX) and external data management systems and assist with generating reports.
  • Maintain and report statistical data as required.
  • Regularly meet with supervisor to review contract deliverables and timetables.
  • Attend inter-office meetings as well as outside agencies meetings as appropriate.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position that will require working in the Catholic Charities Haverstraw Office, on location throughout Rockland Co., and remotely. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday- Friday. Position requires willingness to travel throughout Rockland Co. and availability to work some weekend and evening hours based on community demand.
 
Working conditions and physical demands required:
The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Travel at least 50% of the time using public transportation or vehicle, traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs and be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Remain stationary at a workstation and in meetings and use a computer at least 50% of the time.
  • Remain stationary and/or ambulate to instruct and monitor during trainings and presentations.
  • Carry a laptop to offsite work locations.
Hour rate start between $30.22 to $35.71 an hour or $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 a year. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent professional training related to the position.
  • Experience working with immigrant communities.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to social justice issues and experience working in community settings, non profit, or other direct human services fields.
  • Bilingual: English plus a 2nd language (Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred)
  • Effective communications skills, including written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Availability and readiness to work some weekend and evening hours.
