Location:  1155 University Avenue
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Monitor program participants at all times both on trips and on site.
  • Track daily attendance and activity attendance.
  • Create and implement recreational and educational activities for assigned cohorts.
  • Monitor proper use of program supplies and equipment.
  • Enforce day camp rules and regulations.
  • Notify Program Director and Assistant Director of changes in participants' behavior.
  • Provide supplementary assignments and activities to participants.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Program Director or Assistant Director.
  • Participate in program recruitment efforts of new participants, specifically middle and high school youth.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of all program spaces.
  • Maintain site bulletin boards and produce flyers for events.
  • Assist other staff when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position. Work hours 2pm-6pm Monday-Friday. July-Aug 8am-6pm.

  •  Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.
  • Remain in a stationary position either working at a computer or monitoring activities.
  • Move for long periods, providing instruction.
  • Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth. 

Pay: $17.00 Hourly 

Qualifications

Education and/or experience required: 
 
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with youth ages 5-2I 
  • Submit background checks in compliance with DOE, DYCD, DOH and SACC regulations. 

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
